What if the best gift you can give, is the one you give yourself?

I must confess, I engaged in Black Friday shopping this year, and most of what I bought was for myself! Was anyone else a little self-indulgent?

Well…what if the best gift you can give, is the one you give to yourself?

All too often, I hear successful people talk about how they can’t eat what they want—the great foods that will lead them towards their health goals—because of their hectic schedule, stressful job, life on the road, kids, partner…

I hear people lament that they don’t have time to workout, go for a walk, or meditate, because they’re busy meeting deadlines, taking care of the kids, planning for the holidays…

I hear tales of tight personal budgets that don’t allow for yoga classes, a meal delivery service or private coaching…

Maybe you’re one of these people. You do a fantastic job of taking care of your work, your family and everything else...but when it comes to taking care of yourself the wheels fall off.

I know that you are absolutely doing the best that you can, but what is possible for you if you stop hiding behind excuses for not having the health and life that you want?

Too many of us have fallen into the trap of taking care of everyone and everything, first. Let’s rethink this.

What if taking care of yourself first is the best thing you can do not only for YOU, but for everyone and everything else in your life as well?

But isn’t self care selfish?

No way.

Think about it. I don’t know about you, but when I’m not eating well, not getting enough sleep or not moving my body, I am a #1 grouch. I have no patience. I bark at the dogs.

Not to mention, when you let yourself get run down–physically or mentally–that’s when you’re more likely to catch every little bug going around. What good are you to anyone if you’re sick?

Here’s a mindset shift for you to consider: What if by bumping YOU to the top of the list and giving yourself that vacation, a few minutes of peace and quiet each day, a healthy meal…whatever it is that you need—just for you–you'll be better able to show up for everything else in your life–your work, your family, your friends, and you’ll get more done, not less.

Selfcare is not selfish, it’s the ultimate gift you can give to yourself and to everyone around you.

Take action: What one to three things do you know you need, to show up as the best version of yourself? Schedule them in your calendar between now and the end of the year. Let me know how it goes.

Happy Holidays!
