The Sunday Scaries: According to a LinkedIn survey, 80 percent of all professionals say they experience the Sunday Scaries, or anxiety about heading back to work on Monday morning.
My antidote to the Sunday Scaries does not involve checking my email, looking at my calendar or prepping for a presentation.
Instead, I utilize the following tools:
Plan your calendar accordingly. For example, I never schedule client calls on Monday mornings. Instead, I use that time to get organized for the week.
Set yourself up for healthy eating by food shopping/ordering/prepping on the weekend. You'll be lined up for the week, and less tempted to order DoorDash.
Get out in nature and move your body. Rob and I and our two poodles tagged four of the highest peaks east of the Mississippi on a recent Sunday afternoon.
Climbing mountains is a whole lot more fun (and better for your health!) than stressing out, and instead of freaking out about my Monday priority list, I feel confident, alive and ready to crush my week when the alarm goes off!
In my past life, being away from my laptop and phone on a Sunday would have stressed me out to no end.
Not any more.
I realized that my Sunday Scaries were nothing but a bad habit I had fallen into. I had created a perfect system for myself to feel stressed out on Sunday nights.
So I decided to create another system, and you can too!
How do you set yourself up for a relaxed Sunday so you look forward to Monday?
