Alternately, both Charlotte International airport (CLT), and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International airport (ATL) are each about 3 hours from the lodge.

Southwest Airlines services Charlotte (3 hours), as well as Greenville-Spartansburg, SC (about 2 hours from the lodge).

You do not need a car once you get to Smoky Cove, unless you want to be able to drive into Sylva, etc. on your own. If we decide to take a group excursion, Lisa and I will organize transportation.

If you drive, there is ample parking at the lodge. The paved road to the lodge is steep, but you do not need a 4-wheel drive to access. My 2006 Honda Civic hybrid made it just fine.

Transportation can be arranged from Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) directly to the lodge at an additional cost.

Just a taste of the fun we had at 2023’s Spirit of the Mountain!

Spring Cleanse & Coaching Intensive

Spring Cleanse & Coaching Intensive

Registration for the 2023 spring cleanse is closed. Stay tuned for the next Banish the Bloat & Energize!

My Banish the Bloat and Energize! plant based spring cleanse and coaching intensive is a group program designed to help you hit reset. Let’s face it; many of us (me included!) have overindulged due to the stress of these recent times.

If you are ready to banish the bloat and energize, then my 14-day coaching intensive is perfect for you. This group program will give you the tools and support to get you right back on track.

Don’t panic – unlike many detoxes, there is nothing harsh or undoable about this program – no juicing, no weird supplements and no deprivation. This is not a hit-and-run diet–just a gentle plant based cleanse to get you back on your feet and ready for spring!

Wait…plant based? Yes! I’ve heard so many amazing stories from you all about how eating a plant based diet, even if just for a bit, has given you amazing results, not only in how you feel, but also in your lab reports!

Don’t panic…if eating 100% plant based, even for just two weeks, sounds like a bit much for you, like with all of my programs, you set your own rules. This cleanse is about you, and you’ll certainly still have an illuminating experience, even if you decide to eat the odd egg or salmon filet.

If you’d like to:

  • Banish the bloat

  • Have more energy

  • Slay the sugar dragon

  • Feel lighter and cleaner

  • Shed excess weight

  • Improve sleep

  • Feel happier and more positive

  • Reduce inflammation

  • Experience better digestion

  • Experiment with eating plant based

Then this group cleanse is for you! Plus, it’s a fun, supportive community.

Hey…wait a minute. You’ve raised the price?

Yes. I have. And here’s why:

I first offered this cleanse in 2018, as an off-the-shelf, boilerplate, eat this-don’t eat that-cleanse, similar to the one I had taken part in myself. I’m delighted to say that over the years, it has evolved from what was a valuable experience, to something that is a transformative experience.

The 30 minute calls are now 60 minute calls - three of them in fact - and you get a private coaching call with me after the group program is over where I make sure you’re clear on how to keep the ball rolling.

Sure, you still get the sample meal plans, shopping lists and 25 curated recipes included in your cleanse packet, but now there are an additional 30+ original recipes in beautiful pdf format that you will return to again and again.

When you register for Banish the Bloat & Energize, you’ll get:

  • Kick off call ($108 value)

  • Midway call ($108 value)

  • Celebration call ($108 value)

  • Call recordings (some coaches charge extra for this! I just saw a $47 price tag)

  • One-on one call with me ($200 value)

  • Exclusive access to our community Facebook group ($97 value)

  • Curated cleanse content, recipe pdfs, meal plans, shopping lists, daily protocol, custom journal pages, handouts from my coaching materials, detox info…easily worth ($297)

So that’s over $900 of content for just $199.

But it’s not what I’m giving you in this program that’s worth it, it’s what you will get out of this program. YOU are worth it.

This is much more than the average run-of-the mill, off-the-shelf cleanse that you see on Instagram. This is a 2-week coaching intensive that can change your life.

Winter Solstice Practice

For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, the winter solstice is on December 21. Officially known as the hibernal equinox, this day marks the first day of winter.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE DAY OF THE YEAR!

The winter solstice is the day of the year with the fewest hours of sunlight, making it the "shortest day" of the year. After we reach the winter solstice, the days once again grow longer and lighter. More light, less dark. Yay!

Since the winter solstice is my favorite day of the year, honoring Mother Nature’s natural rhythm’s helps bring us into the present, AND I love yoga, I’ll be celebrating this auspicious day with a special yoga practice.

Join us in my online Yoga Community to honor both your Luke Skywaker and your Darth Vader.

Wednesday, December 21, at 10am central. Your place.

All are welcome and your first class is free, but if you’re new to our community, please register here.

🌞🙏🌚

Here’s how we’ll celebrate:

  • A mini-mala of sun salutations to coax out the sun

  • Invigorating and restorative asana

  • Pranayama chosen to honor both the solar and lunar parts inside of us

  • Special guided solstice meditation

Freedom Friday Burning Bowl Ceremony

Freedom Friday Burning Bowl Ceremony

What’s a burning bowl ceremony?

A burning bowl ceremony is a beautiful ritual used to energetically release something that no longer serves us.

It helps us to let go of negativity, resentment, hurt, grudges or suffering. You know, emotional garbage.

Letting go gives us freedom.

Once we’ve let go, we can make space for new beginnings.

Think it sounds weird? It’s actually really cool and it goes like this:

Start by bringing to mind what you want to release. Then, write this on a piece of paper. Letting go begins the moment you put pen to paper.

In a safe place, hold your paper over a fire-safe vessel, and light it on fire. If you’re not into lighting things on fire, you can simply tear your paper up into tiny pieces.

As you watch the paper burn, visualize your unwanted thoughts rising up in the smoke, being released.

My membership performs this transforming ritual together, as a community, the last Friday of each month after my 10am yoga class. Won’t you join us in releasing what no longer serves?

You don’t have to join class to participate in the burning bowl ceremony - simply log on at 11am. (All class times are US central standard time, like Chicaco.)

Members only.

Spring Solstice Practice

Spring Solstice Practice

For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, the spring solstice is on March 20 this year. Officially known as the vernal equinox, this day marks the beginning of spring.

Have we ever been so ready for spring?

Vernal translates to “new” and “fresh,” and equinox comes from Latin meaning “equal night.” The spring or vernal equinox is the day when the hours of daylight are equal to hours of darkness, and the light will increase bit by bit each day, until the summer solstice on June 21.

Creating rituals around the earth’s natural cycles is a powerful way to connect with Mother Nature and the universe, and bring us into the present moment.

Spring is the time when nature is reborn. Trees blossom, daffodils bloom and birds lay their eggs. And so it is with us too: a time to shed winter’s heaviness, take delight in warmer temperatures, and perhaps even do a little dance.

In this special online yoga class, we'll honor the spring solstice with the following practices, celebrating both the light and the dark, with the following practices:

  • A mini-mala of sun salutations

  • Sharing our voices by chanting

  • Pranayama chosen to remove stagnation and energize the lungs

  • Deep rest and relaxation

All class times are US central standard time, like Chicacgo.

Special Zoomiversary Week Classes

Looks like we made it! Holy cow, does anyone else remember that classic Barry Manilow song from the 70’s? I know…I’m dating myself…but I’m PROUD to be a survivor of the 70’s—cheesy ballads, disco and Atari included 😜!

Not only did we make it through the 70’s, but we’re about to make it through this winter, and fingers crossed, this COVID pandemic as well.

Can I get an amen?

I can’t tell you all how delighted I am that our yoga community is going strong. When we did a trial run of these online classes TWO YEARS AGO this month, I never dreamed we’d still be having this much fun, two years later.

For those of you in Kansas City—I get to see many of you more now than I did BC (before Covid) and I certainly have gotten to know you better.

And those of you who log on from Minneapolis, Fort Worth, Brooklyn, Florida, Chicago, Mexico, Palm Springs, San Diego…and all of the other exotic places you’ve been, that never would have been possible without our Zoom classes.

Join me in looking back over these past two years and give yourself a pat on the back for all of the new technologies you’ve learned: Zoom, PayPal, Venmo and Vimeo, just to name a few. The name of my signature healthy aging coaching program is RAV, which stands for relevant, active and vibrant and you have been the inspiration for this.

A member asked me recently if I thought I’d ever stop these classes, and the answer to that is NO! I pledge to keep showing up on my mat as long as you all do:)

Enjoy concierge coaching services

All members receive complimentary 20-minute RAV (Relevant, Active & Vibrant) coaching calls with me to assess and make recommendations on your individual health and wellness needs. These calls are limited and based on availability. To reserve your spot, click here.

My wish is to positively impact not just your flexibility, but your life as well!

Freedom Friday Burning Bowl Ceremony w Guest Teacher Sonci Carey

What’s a burning bowl ceremony?

A burning bowl ceremony is a beautiful ritual used to energetically release something that no longer serves us. It symbolically helps to clear out negativity, resentment, hurt, grudges or suffering, particularly, as we transition from one year to the next.

Letting go gives us freedom.

Once we’ve let go, we can make space for new beginnings.

How does a burning bowl ritual work?

Start by bringing to mind what you want to release. Then, write this on a piece of paper. Letting go begins the moment you put pen to paper.

In a safe place, hold your paper over a fire-safe vessel, and light it on fire. If playing with fire doesn’t feel comfortable to you, you will simply tear your paper up into tiny pieces.

As you watch the paper burn, visualize your unwanted thoughts rising up in the smoke, being released.

My membership performs this transforming ritual together, as a community, the last Friday of each month after my 10am yoga class. Won’t you join us in releasing what no longer serves?

All class times are central standard time, like Chicago.

Full Moon Yoga Practice

Full Moon Yoga Practice

Creating rituals around moon cycles is a powerful way to connect with Mother Nature and the universe, and bring us into the present moment.

When the moon is full, as it will be this coming Wednesday, February 16, it’s a great time for reflection and a beautiful opportunity to take note of your physical and emotional well-being.

In this special online class, we'll honor the full moon with the following practices:

  • Chandra bhedana, or moon piercing breath, a simple, quietly powerful pranayama. Also known as left-nostril breathing, it involves breathing in through your left nostril, the lunar side, and exhaling out of the right, the solar.

  • Chandra namaskar, or moon salutations, a calming, meditative, and soothing version of the more commonly practiced sun salutations.

  • Yoga nidra, deep yogic relaxation. Class is open to all members and class pass holders.

Winter Solstice Practice

Winter Solstice Practice

For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, the winter solstice is the day of the year with the fewest hours of sunlight, making it the "shortest day" of the year. After we reach the winter solstice, the days once again grow longer and longer…which is why the winter solstice is my favorite day of the year!

The winter solstice officially marks the first day of winter, yet, it also means the return of more sunlight. It only gets brighter from here!

In this special class, we’ll celebrate both the light and the dark, with sun salutations and yoga nidra, or yogic deep relaxation.

Class is open to all members and class pass holders. All class times are US central standard time, like Chicacgo.
