I have a confession to make: I didn’t go to the gym.
Nope. No treadmill, spin class, dumbbells or kettlebells for me today.
Instead, I hoed my garden and planted onions, Swiss chard, broccoli, radishes and mustard greens. Then, I cut the grass with my people-powered reel mower.
FACT: You have to move your body to age healthily.
FICTION: You have to “exercise” or “workout,” or buy an expensive gym membership to age healthily.
FICTION: If you can’t get in a full 60-min cardio class or 90-min yoga practice, it doesn’t count.
FACT: Working in your yard, walking your dog, even playing with your kids for 15, 20-minutes at a time–that counts!
If you like to go to the gym, GREAT! Keep going. But don’t let that hang you up.
One of the ways I empower my clients to age healthily is to help them find enjoyable ways to move and groove. My RAV healthy aging intensive (RAV stands for relevant, active and vibrant) even comes with your very own membership to my online community.
If you’re already moving, keep moving and move more. If you’re not, let’s talk.
