Got Oat Milk?

Oat milk is all of the rage.

And here I am drinking it in my morning latte.

Spoiler alert: If you’re drinking the standard barista blend version of ANY non-dairy milk, it’s laced with poison.

Well, not exactly poison, that was most definitely an exaggeration. Unless you consider sugar a poison. ❓

However, it’s true that your typical non-dairy milk might contain one or more of these:

* sugar
* carrageenan
* xanthan gum
* gellan gum
* locust bean gum
* lecithin
* canola oil
* sunflower oil
* salt
* and other weird ingredients

I don’t know about you, but I don’t even know what half of those ingredients are.

We’re told these things are all safe for consumption. But then they also told us smoking was safe. 😱

Again, that’s a bit of hyperbole; I’m not comparing the dangers of smoking to canola oil. But you get my point.

When it comes to non-dairy milks (or anything for that matter) read your labels. If you want sugar in your almond milk, buy one with sugar. But if you prefer no inflammatory ingredients in your milk, buy one without.

Knowledge is power.
